Here’s a breakdown of the entire route and some important stations in between:
Katra
Well, the busy town of Katra is the base camp and hence offers a plethora of hotels, shops, and restaurant options catering to the pilgrims. It even serves as a medium to get your trek registered and obtain Yatra permissions from the authorities.
Banganga
Banganga, located just a short walk away from Katra, is a sacred stream where the pilgrims cleanse themselves before embarking on the trek. Here at Banganga, you will find cloakrooms where you can easily store your luggage. You can even get food
from refreshment stalls at Banganga.
Adhkuwari
Adhkuwari, which is located at a distance of 6 kilometres from Katra is known to be the halfway mark of your journey to the Holy Cave of Vaishno Devi. This place is equipped with well-maintained
guest houses, restaurants, cloakrooms, and medical facilities. This place is considered as a resting point for pilgrims before resuming their journey.
Sanjichat
Trek for 4 kilometres more from Adhkuwari and you will be guided to Sanjichat
which offers another resting point with similar facilities as in Adhkuwari. However, an addition to this place is that this serves as a point where the helicopter service becomes available for the pilgrims seeking a quicker ascent.
Bhawan
The final destination! Bhawan, where the Holy Cave temple is located. Here, you will find facilities like guest houses, cloakrooms, refreshment stalls, and more.
